We have been learning and celebrating all that is good about our town, the local area, its history and geographical significance.Classes have been researching and visiting some local attractions, historic buildings and creating some wonderful pieces of art with artist Sian Hodson.
Their textile art and written work have been used in a printed booklet which is full of interesting facts and even includes questions to encourage children and their families to get out and about to find the answers to the quiz.
We launched the project last week with inspirational local heroes like Robin Appleyard and Martin Whitcombe visiting classes to talk about their own history and how to succeed. All classes made visits to places of local interest such as Cliffe Castle, the railway museum at Ingrow and East Riddlesden Hall.
As a result of The 'Keighley curriculum' all classes now have new names and we enjoyed sharing this with parents during our celebration assembly. We know that the children have learnt lots about their town and we hope that by exploring further to complete the quiz everyone will feel proud of their home town.
